About the event
This visual art workshop teaches the student about the art of collage. During the workshop the student will enjoy learning and experiencing what a collage is and how to create a collage that is thoughtful, visually exciting and unique. Examples of collage artists such as Romare Bearden, Robert Rauschenberg and Georges Braque will be shown. Materials are provided and include: magazines, various kinds of paper, cardboard, foil and fabric. End of class sharing and classroom discussions are on going throughout the workshop. A critique and conversation takes place on the final day of the workshop. The workshop focuses on "self-portrait" collage but can be adapted to the classroom studies or curriculum.
