Students will explore a theme or concept using movement and tableau. We will practice using body positioning, spatial relationships, levels, and expression to gain an understanding of the chosen topic and its key elements.

Creative Writing for Change
Creative Writing for Change
Students will use creative writing to advocate for change they want to see in the world. Guided through meditative and creative brainstorming sessions, students will consider issues that affect them, their loved ones, and communities. With an additional option to engage in light research processes, young writers will dive into their chosen cause to help inform their creations.

Artifacts gathered and collected over decades from the early 1800’s – 1900’s are put directly into the hands of young scholars to examine, explore, and question as they learn about the development and impact of the Erie Canal on New York State.

Exploring Poetry on Pottery
Exploring Poetry on Pottery
Dave the potter was an enslaved person in South Carolina in the early to mid 1800s. He went beyond the limits of most enslaved people through his art. ​
Students will examine David Drake's pottery and poetry and then make vessels inspired by both. They will learn about an important historical figure, the ceramic process, and crafting words.

Film Making
This multi-session residency is an excellent way to engage workshop participants in the basics of filmmaking. Traditional narrative filmmaking is excellent for group work, turning short stories into movies. Documentary-style films can be an engaging way for participants to reflect on reading materials or current events. Short-form content is great for all creators to learn how to get their message across in a succinct way.

Poetry Writing for Answers
During this workshop, students will be guided in creative writing soothsaying techniques to write poems that act as roadmaps, guiding them through whatever uncertainties they might be facing. Using poetry (traditional and experimental/visual), chance, accident, and artmaking rituals, students will ponder a question they have for themselves or the world.

Mandalas, Math, and Mindfulness
Together we will explore symmetry in our environment. Creating art together using found objects or nature - we will learn breathing techniques and make mandalas, gaining an understanding of math concepts found in our natural world.

My Culture, My Clay
In this workshop students will be encouraged to research their heritage and express their culture through clay. They will learn the science of pottery, hand building techniques and historical decorative applications to create their visual autobiography.

Passport to Poetry
In this residency students will explore poetry from around the world and create their own original works. The residency will culminate in the creation of 3-dimensional pop-up books to collect their series of poems and learnings from each culture.

Plant to Plate
Plant to Plate
Plant to Plate is an art-based program that connects creativity, nature, and sustainability through hands-on projects. Students begin by painting flower pots and planting seeds, learning about the journey from plant to plate while nurturing their own growing plants. They then design and build imaginative farms and farmhouses inspired by the work of artists Kelly Betschen and Amanda Browder, decorating their structures with colorful "quilts" made from recycled fabric. To complete their miniature landscapes, students plant grass, bringing their farms to life. Throughout the program, participants explore artistic expression, environmental stewardship, and the importance of sustainable practices in a fun and engaging way

Reduce, Reuse, Reimagine
Reduce, Reuse, Reimagine
Students will gain a greater understanding of their role in the environmental health of our planet. Using recycled materials, they will have a hands-on mixed-media experience and leave with a completed project.The specific project will vary depending on the age and focus of the group.
Examples Include: Terrariums, Wheat Paste Tiles, Recycled Glass Magnets, Intention Jars, Bird Feeders, and Instruments

Zine Making
Zine Making
Participants will learn to create a variety of easy bookbinding structures to turn their own creative endeavors into zines that are easy to make multiples of for sharing both in person and online. The students will know how to create an 8-page zine from a single piece of paper, how to use basic bookbinding tools, and how to organize information in the book format.
