ArtWorks is a paid creative arts-based job training and college readiness after-school program for high school students, aged 14-18. Students are enrolled as paid apprentices to train under Master Teaching Artists, who mentor them in an art form while they learn skills transferable to any future workplace or college. Apprentices walk away from the program having produced high quality art that is exhibited to the community in a group Showcase at a local public venue!
As a signature program of Arts for Learning WNY, ArtWorks is advancing the organization’s mission by inspiring young people and educators through new and meaningful creative arts experiences.

We know ArtWorks is a transformative program, but don't just take our word for it–read on to hear more from our 2025 Spring ArtWorks Apprentice, Negina Masoud!

"My name is Negina Masoud, and I’m a senior at Hutch Tech High School. This spring, I participated in the ArtWorks program through Arts for Learning WNY as part of the fashion cohort. Throughout the semester, I learned how to design clothing, work on creative projects, and follow step-by-step processes. I also developed important skills like time management, teamwork, and public speaking during professional development sessions and group activities.
I would recommend this program to others because it helps build both artistic and job readiness skills. The mix of art workshops, guest speakers, and off-site trips gives students a chance to explore different careers and learn about local opportunities. ArtWorks is a helpful program for anyone looking to grow their creativity and gain real-world experience at the same time."

Led by Master Teaching Artist Rashaad Holley, students had the opportunity to learn the art of Fashion and create their own garments.
