Arts for Learning WNY is pleased to announce that they are accepting applications for their Spring 2024 ArtWorks program. Since its inception, ArtWorks has hired over 300 teens from Western New York. The ArtWorks program addresses the need for youth to develop skills in a real-world work environment, and builds core competencies that are needed in today’s economy. High school students are encouraged to apply to become a paid apprentice.
Apprentices will learn to become creative and innovative participants in the 21st Century’s competitive economy and gain important skills in problem solving, communication, leadership, responsibility, critical thinking, and collaboration. ArtWorks not only inspires students to succeed, but also ensures they have the skills to do so.
ArtWorks, is a multi-disciplinary, arts-based job training program for Teen Apprentices ages 14-18, residing in the City of Buffalo. For the semester, a cohort of apprentices will engage in both arts activities and projects, led by a Teaching Artist, and professional development days to learn workforce readiness skills. The semester will consist of professional development and art workshops, guest speakers, and off site trips to various Buffalo-based arts and cultural institutions or post-secondary institutions. The semester culminates with a showcase wherein students create, exhibit and perform original works of art.
